Leo Johnson

Leo Johnson

Is a Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Sustainability and Climate Change team. He is also co-founder of Sustainable Finance Ltd, which advises over 50 international financial institutions around the risks and opportunities of sustainability, and is now a part of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Group. Leo Johnson's expertise is making sense of sustainability. He pinpoints the trends that will impact business performance from climate change to oil price shocks and lays out the risks and opportunities for the financial sector and its core clients. Leo pioneered the environmental and social due diligence for the financial sector at the International Finance Corporation and has written guest columns for the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal on sustainability.

 
Alex Lambie

Alex Lambie

Alex Lambie is a business development consultant with a strong commitment to social and environmental responsibility. He has worked extensively in the development of positive public action programmes and the consumer goods, web tools and messaging vehicles necessary to attain the goals of such programmes. This includes founding the UK’s first fashionable fairtrade organic clothing company (runner-up in 2006 entrepreneur of the year awards), developing the world’s first renewable energy comparison and switching service and international communications initiatives including a televised climate change concert. Alex consults to investors and companies on business development that is driven by social and environmental responsibility, has advised to government, political parties and think tanks and has won support from The United Nations Environment Programme. He writes on social and environmental issues for The Big Issue and Green Magazine and gives "green expert" (whatever that is) opinion for TV and Radio.

 
Deborah Meaden

Deborah Meaden

Deborah Meaden started her business career with very little capital launching her own glass and ceramics import company straight out of Business College. Deborah then set up one of the first 'Stefanel' fashion franchises to appear in the UK.
With several successful businesses in the leisure and retail sector under her belt, she became managing director of Weststar Holidays, acquired the major shareholding in a management buyout and later sold the company in a deal worth £33 million whilst retaining a 23% stake. She sold her remaining stake when the business was sold for £83 million in August 2007.
In 2009, accepting a role as an Ambassador for the WWF, the world's leading environmental organization, Deborah actively supports environmental charities and initiatives. Deborah sits on the Board of the Roundhouse, the North London arts centre, is an Ambassador for Lend with Care, Patron for Tusk Trust, Fellow with the RSA, Trustee for the Design Council and has recently become an Ambassador for WorldSkills London 2011.
Deborah joined the panel of investors for series three of the BBC2 program 'Dragons' Den' and has since invested in a number of businesses, ranging from Market Research to online Antiques valuations. Most recently she stepped in to acquire Fox Brothers, a Historic Textile firm based in the South West which was on the verge of closure.
Deborah says, ‘As an active and passionate supporter of environmental initiatives I’m delighted to be a judge of the inaugural People and Environmental Achievement Business Awards. We are looking for the role models of the future, those who will show the direction of travel for creating sustainable businesses.’

Jarvis Smith

Jarvis Smith

Jarvis Smith is a musician, evangelist, publisher and TV personality. Green living dominates his personal and professional life and has led him to establish the People and Environment Achievement Business Awards (PEABs) and gather support from an array of similarly ‘green minded’ individuals who want to make green cool.

 
Jo Fairley

Jo Fairley

Has been ‘green’ since 1971 when a boyfriend gave her A Shopper’s Guide to Saving the Planet. She wrote ‘Ecosphere,’ a weekly column for The Times newspaper, and presented BSkyB’s satellite television show ‘Go For Green’ with Geoffrey Lean and David Bellamy. In 1991, Jo co-founded Green & Black’s organic chocolate, with husband Craig Sams and now owns Judges Bakery in her hometown of Hastings. She is co-author, with Sarah Stacey, of The Green Beauty Bible and www.beautybible.com. For eight years, Jo chaired the Health Products Standards Committee for the Soil Association, helping to set the standards for organic beauty care in the UK.

Jo Wood

Is a pioneer and committed supporter of all things organic and natural. She is the founder of Jo Wood Organics, a successful and award winning organic fragrance and beauty range and lives in Kingston, London. Jo says: “My philosophy is about respecting our bodies and our Earth. If we work with Nature, rather than abusing it, we will all reap the benefits.

Paul Turner

Paul Turner

Paul is Lloyds Banking Group’s Community Investment & Sustainable Development Director. For the first part of his career, Paul worked in structured finance. In 2007 he developed the business case for establishing a sustainable development team in the Corporate Markets Division (Wholesale) to support the Bank’ s business customers as they seize the opportunities and manage the risks of the emerging green economy. He also developed initiatives to enable colleagues to engage with community based organisations.
Taking on a Group-wide role in 2011, Paul is now responsible for leading the team developing and implementing the Group’s community investment and sustainable development strategy. This involves working across the multiple Group brands and divisions, working closely with the Bank’s charitable Foundations and also working closely with customers, NGOs, charities and community based organisations, the Government, investors and suppliers.
Paul is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program, a Senior Associate at Cambridge University’s Programme for Sustainability Leadership and a Tutor on their Masters level course in Sustainable Business. Paul is a member of the UK Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change, Business in the Community’s Environment Leadership Steering Group and the Bank’s Financial Inclusion Steering Group.

Tony Juniper

Tony Juniper

Tony Juniper is a well known environmental campaigner, writer and independent sustainability adviser. He is GREEN magazine's editor in chief and advises several global companies on their sustainability strategies. He speaks and writes on environmental issues and contributes to several organisations through advisory panels and boards. Tony Juniper is the author of several books, including Spix’s Macaw (2002), How Many Light Bulbs Does It Take To Change A Planet?(2007) and Harmony (2010) – co-written with HRH The Prince of Wales and Ian Skelly. He began his career as an ornithologist, working with Birdlife International. From 1990 he worked at Friends of the Earth and was the organisation’s executive director from 2003-2008. He was also the Vice Chair of Friends of the Earth International from 2000-2008.
